Beau Coast Sponsors Beaufort Wine & Food
Each year, one of the most convivial of Beaufort events is the spring Beaufort Wine & Food Festival. To tide everyone over, there’s also the fall Oyster Roast, which is coming up soon! As well as offering up delicious – and local – food and wine, the festival and roast are just some of the many ways that the Beaufort Wine and Food organization helps the community. At Beau Coast, we’re proud to be sustaining partners who support the organization that brings important social and charity events to life. We encourage residents of our new homes in Beaufort NC to visit these events and even consider other ways to get involved in the greater community.
Beaufort Wine and Food is a 501 c3 non profit that works to meet the changing needs of those in Carteret County. The first festival started as a weekend event in 2005, and was held in the charming streets of downtown Beaufort. Since then, the organization has focused on a core group of local charities as recipients for the proceeds earned from its events. As well as the money raised, the generous help from members, sponsors, and food and wine participants made it possible for Beaufort Wine and Food to donate more than $1,000,000 for local non-profits.
In fact, each year, Beaufort Wine and Food looks at the various needs of the community to determine where to focus the money raised so that it will have the biggest impact. For example, the Carteret Community College Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center features a commercial kitchen with top of the line equipment that helps train students for culinary careers. Beaufort Wine and Food has contributed $100,000 to this important project.
When Covid first hit in March 2020, the organization reached out to supporters to raise funds totaling $50,000 to aid the Carteret County restaurant workers who were severely impacted. In addition, $50,000 has gone to the Salvation Army for a commercial kitchen that better helps them feed the community during disasters, as well as helping their collaborative feeding programs. Similarly, $15,000 were raised to fund the hurricane relief efforts of the Carteret County Public School Foundation. The donation helped the organization meet a grant challenge, doubling the money going directly to employees and students in need.
This kind of fundraising remains important all year long, which is why Beau Coast is one of the sustaining partners who support the Beaufort Wine and Food efforts throughout the year. The upcoming Oyster Roast is taking place November 2, starting at 1 pm at the Beaufort Hotel front lawn. We invite the residents of our new homes in Beaufort NC to turn out and help raise money and have a tasty time.
